Strathbogie · Central & North East Victoria
Automatic entrance gates, built for your property.
No more getting out of the car in the rain to open a gate by hand. We design, build and install sliding, swing and telescopic gates for homes, farms and rural blocks, then automate them to run on solar or mains power — or automate the gate you've already got.
Not sure what you need yet? Tell us about your driveway and we'll work it out.

Built & Installed by Duralast
A gate built for your entrance, not off the shelf.
An automatic gate is the first thing people see when they turn into your property, and it needs to keep working through a wet Strathbogie winter as well as it does in summer. We build the gate to fit the actual opening, then automate it properly — not the other way around.
Duralast is a small, Strathbogie-based building business with over 20 years in the trades. Gates are one part of what we build — decks, renovations and outdoor living projects are the rest — so you're getting a builder's finish, not just an installer's.

Choose Your Gate
Which style of automatic gate suits your entrance?
The best arrangement depends on the opening, slope and space available. We can also match the style to your home, fencing or rural entrance.
Sliding gates
Runs beside the fence line rather than swinging into the driveway or street, so it suits entrances with limited clearance. We build both tracked and cantilever styles — cantilever spans the opening with no ground track to catch on.
Swing gates
Single or double leaves that suit a more traditional entrance where there's clear space for them to open. Wind and post strength matter more with a swing gate than a sliding one, so we design the posts and footings around it.
Telescopic gates
Two overlapping leaves slide and collapse into each other, so the gate needs far less side clearance than a standard sliding gate. Useful where the fence line is too short to park a full-length gate behind.
Boom & fan gates
A boom gate lifts a single arm and suits wider or commercial-style entrances. A fan gate swings open in overlapping panels where there's no room to slide sideways at all.
Power & Access
Automation that matches how you actually use the gate.
Remote, keypad, phone app or intercom — powered by solar where there's no mains power, or a mains-fed motor where there is.
Solar-powered gates
A solar panel and battery run the gate — the usual choice for entrances away from mains power. We size the system to how much sun the site gets and how often the gate's used.
Mains-powered automation
Where power's already at the gate, a mains-fed motor is often simpler. Still runs on battery with manual release if the power drops out.
Remote & keypad entry
Open the gate from your car, or give visitors a keypad code — whatever suits how the property's used day to day.
Smartphone gate control
Open a compatible gate from your phone over Wi-Fi or mobile data, depending on what reaches your entrance.
Intercoms & cameras
See and speak to visitors before letting them in. Video and audio options depend on what connectivity's available on site.
Safety & manual access
Photoelectric beams and other safety devices fitted to suit the gate, plus a manual release for when the power's out.
Already Have a Gate?
Automate your existing entrance gate.
You may be able to keep your existing gate and just add an opener. We'll check its condition and supports first, and flag any repairs it needs before we automate it.

Common Questions
Things people ask before they commit.
How much does an automatic entrance gate cost?
There's no single figure — size, design, materials, posts, site prep and the access controls you choose all move the price. Automating a gate you already have is usually the cheaper option. Send us a photo and a rough opening width and we'll talk you through it.
Can you automate my existing sliding or swing gate?
Often, yes, if the gate and its supports are up to it. We'll check the weight and condition first and flag anything that needs fixing before we fit a motor.
Will a solar-powered gate work through winter?
Sun exposure and how often you use the gate matter more than the season itself. A shaded entrance or a gate that gets opened a lot might need a bigger battery — we size the system to your site, not a standard package.
Can you fit an automatic gate on a sloping driveway?
Sometimes — it comes down to the direction and amount of slope. Swing gates need clearance through the arc; sliding gates need level ground along their travel. We'll check the site before settling on a design.
Can I open the gate from my phone?
Yes, with a compatible smartphone controller and suitable connectivity. The system may use Wi-Fi or a mobile connection; we'll explain coverage needs and any ongoing charges before you choose.
What happens during a power outage?
Most of our automation includes a battery backup, so the gate can usually still open on stored power or manually for a while. How long depends on the setup — we'll walk you through it with your quote.
How long does the gate installation take?
On-site work is only part of the timeframe. Design, fabrication, equipment availability, foundations and concrete curing can all affect the schedule. We'll give you a realistic lead time with your quote.
